So now that we have our ilFornino Wood Fired Pizza Oven, if you're like me, you're thinking about making Pizza everyday! Last weekend my wife had an idea (since she really likes entertaining) she said "why don't we have friends over and ask them to bring their favorite INGREDIENTS to put on their pizza" Well that gave me the Great Idea to have a B.Y.O.T. (Bring Your Own Topping) Party. She said it's the same thing!! ( well sort of lol)
Well, as long as I get to use my Wood Fired Pizza Oven I am a happy person!
We came up with some General Rules for our friends to abide by.
- All toppings must be cleaned, chopped and ready to go.
- Any toppings that would need to be precooked must be before coming.
- I informed them that I would supply the dough, Mozzarella Cheese, Ricotta Cheese, and a basic Red Sauce as well as an assortment of spices.
- We then put the guests names in a hat and picked them in the order their pizza would be made. (Except for the Dessert pizzas which we did at the end)
The Party was so much fun. We were able to make some great new pizza combinations that I would probably never would have made if not for my BYOT themed party. The mussels and red onion pizza was very good, the assorted pepper pizza with a pesto sauce was also a favorite! My wife's choice was the spinach and ricotta cheese - a great White Pie. I did a classic Margherita. It was fun working with my friend Janine on the Dessert pizzas. We did a Smore's pizza and a Black Raspberry pizza. Delicious!!!!
Having an ilFornino Portable Wood Fired pizza oven makes a great addition to my 2 smokers and grill - It would have been nice to hang out by the Wood Fired Pizza Oven but it was a cold night so we assembled the pizzas in the kitchen. The Dessert pizzas were a huge hit, more detailed info on them in my next blog.
